Library
The library sits at the heart of the Sacramento Dharma Center community to support those who wish to learn more about Buddhist meditation practice and the study of the Dharma. All are welcome to visit and borrow books. The library is open when there are events and meetings at the Dharma Center. See the Calendar page for dates/times.
Search for a book online
• Use the laptop computer in the library.
• Or use your own device from anywhere by going to: Tinyurl.com/thesdclibrary
• You can search for title, author, or subject tags, such as “Women” or “Science.”
Find a book on the shelves
• Books are shelved by tradition and alphabetical by author’s last name.
• In the online catalog, a book’s first tag listed indicates its tradition/location in the library.
• Theravada/Insight books (including Vipassana and Thai Forest) have a yellow tag and are found along the west wall.
• Mahayana books (including Zen, Vajrayana, and Pure Land) have a green tag and are found along the east wall.
• General books (including anthologies) have a pink tag and are found below the windows on the north wall.
• Note: Many Buddhist authors' names include an honorific, such as Ajahn and Rinpoche. Typically, books are not alphabetized by honorifics. Dalai Lama is an exception and is found under “D.”
Check out a book
Return a book
• Return the book within 45 days.
• You will receive a due date reminder email 3 days before the book is due.
• Place the book near the sign that says “Return Books Here.”
• Please note the date returned on the paper checkout sheet.
• Later, you’ll receive an email confirming its return.
Get Involved
Create a Library Account
o You create an account by legibly completing all the fields on the paper check out form the first time you check out a book.
o After that, when you check out a book, you will still need to put the book’s title, author, and your name in the paper log, but you do not need to fill out the email and phone number fields.
o Please print legibly to help ensure accuracy.

o If you would like to donate money to support the library please visit the Donate page and for the “Donate To” dropdown menu, select “Library.”
